NYC Poetry Festival 2025

Come join LIT and The New School July 12th and 13th for the New York Poetry Society’s annual Poetry Festival weekend on Governor’s Island. Stop by The New School table number 5 for some pop up readings, Poetry RX, and mystery fun activities, and check out New School poets reading on a variety of stages on both days.

SATURDAY, JULY 12TH

12:30 PM: Poets House
THE BRINKLEY STAGE

Featuring New School poets Kate Millar, María Elisa Schmidt along with Elaine K. and Selena Spier. Poets House is a library and meeting place which invites poets and the public to step into the living tradition of poetry, in a comfortable and accessible space. https://poetshouse.org/

2:00 PM: Hudson Valley Writers Center
THE BLACKBIRD STAGE

Featuring New School poet Michael Quattrone along with Dominika Wronzynski, Slapering Hol Press, Meredith Trade, and more. https://www.writerscenter.org/

3:00 PM New School Poets Pop-Up Reading

SUNDAY, JULY 13TH

11:30 AM: Poets of Queens

Featuring New School poet jason b. crawford (They/He) along with Emily Hockaday.

12:00 PM: PEN PAL POETS
THE ALGONQUIN STAGE

Featuring New School poet Linda Kleinbub along with Madelline Artenberg, Ptr Kozlowski, Jada Fitzpatrick, and C. O. Moed. Pen Pal Poets is a group of diverse poets, artists, storytellers, and musicians that curates poetry readings throughout the city. Readings have been held at the Playhouse Theater, 6BC Community Garden and the NYC Poetry Festival.

2:00 PM: Milk Press
THE BRINKLEY STAGE

Editors include New School poets Natalee Cruz and Lisette Boer and NYC PoFest founder Stephanie Berger. Milk Press merges the poetry, visual, and digital art worlds by cultivating, presenting, and publishing multi-disciplinary, collaborative work

4:30 PM: There’s A Lot To Unpack Here
THE ALGONQUIN STAGE

Featuring New School poet Kindall Gant along with Cierra Martin, Leilani,   Sophia Noulas, Allison, Gabby Mancuso, and Meghan. TALTUH is a reading and interview series in Brooklyn. 

The NYC Poetry Festival offers the Ring of Daisies Open Mic from 12 PM – 2:30 PM & 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Sign-ups are first-come, first-served at the Ring of Daisies table.

The Poetry Festival is free and open to the public and is accessible by a Governors Island operated ferry, leaving from Manhattan and Brooklyn. The ferry is free on weekends before noon. Check the schedule here.

And The NYC Ferry has regular departures for Governor’s Island from Wall Street, Pier 11. Check their schedule here.
